About the EIT Raw Materials
EIT Raw Materials aims at turning the challenge of raw materials supply into a major strength for Europe.
EIT Raw Materials is the strongest consortium ever created in the world in the raw materials field. The approach will pay particular attention to systemic thinking and de-siloing across the value chain.
Geometallurgy.eu was born from the implementation of the knowledge triangle concept around the sub-thematic of geometallurgy.
Geometallurgy is the integration of multiple data to maximize the value of the orebody and minimize the technical and operational risk.
Geometallurgy.eu was created to promote all the initiatives around geometallurgy in Europe under a single umbrella.
The EMerald Master program
The first joint initiative started with the launching of the EMerald program in 2013, supported by the Erasmus Mundus program.
The EMerald Master was built on the expertise developed in each partner universities but provided for the first time a coherent course offer.
The program is based on a mobility scheme that enables the students to experience different working environment across Europe and to benefit from the best of what each partner can offer.
It already boost the interaction with industry and the international raw materials research community. The program gained the EIT Label in 2016.
OREVAL network of facilities and Geomet Lifelong learning course
In 2016 two other geometallurgy initiatives were funded by the EIT Raw materials.
- The OREVAL network of facilities which provide services in the field of Raw Materials and ore characterization ;
- The Geomet Lifelong learning course.
Geometallurgy should therefore enhance synergies between those tree initiatives, trigger the development of new projects and grow the ‘geomet’ community in Europe.
